Report a Bug

Tell the PrimeTask team about a problem, and include a diagnostic code so we can look into it faster.

If something in PrimeTask is not working the way you expect, you can report it to the team without leaving the app. You can also attach a diagnostic code, a secure code that gives us the technical details we need to investigate.

Reporting takes a moment, and a report with a diagnostic code attached is the fastest way to get a problem fixed.

What you can do

Report a problem

to the PrimeTask team from inside the app.

Copy a diagnostic code

to include with your report.

Send a report even when a screen will not load

, using the recovery screen.

How to report a bug

You can start a report from a few places:

  • App menu: Open the app menu from the header and choose Report a Bug. This opens your User Dashboard, where you sign in and submit your report.
  • About page: Open the app menu, choose About PrimeTask, and use the Report a Bug option there.
  • On macOS: You can also use the menu bar: Help → Report a Bug → Report Online.

However you start, PrimeTask takes you to your User Dashboard to write up and send the report.

Grab a diagnostic code first

A report is far more useful with a diagnostic code attached. Copy one before you write your report, so it is ready to paste in.

Sending a diagnostic code

A diagnostic code is a short, secure code that captures technical details about the problem, such as which version of PrimeTask you are running and what went wrong. You paste it into your report, and the team reads it to understand what happened.

To copy one:

  • App menu: Open the app menu and choose Copy Diagnostic. PrimeTask copies the code to your clipboard.
  • On macOS: You can also use the menu bar: Help → Report a Bug → Copy Diagnostic Code.

Then paste the code into your report on the User Dashboard.

Safe to share

A diagnostic code is readable only by the PrimeTask team. It is safe to paste into your report.

If PrimeTask will not load

If PrimeTask ever runs into trouble loading a screen, it shows a recovery screen instead of stopping. From there you can:

  • Reload PrimeTask to try again, which often clears the problem.
  • Copy a diagnostic code to send with a report, so we can see what happened.

This way you can still get a diagnostic code out even when the app itself is stuck.

Reload first

Reloading fixes many one-off hiccups on its own. If the same problem keeps coming back, copy a diagnostic code and send us a report.

Things worth knowing

A diagnostic code is optional, but it helps

You can send a report without one. Including a diagnostic code just means we spend less time guessing and more time fixing.

Reports go to your User Dashboard

Reporting a bug opens your User Dashboard, where you submit and keep track of what you have sent. For the other help resources built into PrimeTask, see Help and Documentation Settings.

You will sign in

Your User Dashboard is part of your PrimeTask account, so you sign in there to submit and track your reports.
