Project Details Page

The hub for a single project - a header with banner image, quick stats, action buttons, and up to 9 tabs covering Overview, Tasks, Goals, Milestones, Team, Notes, CRM, Fields, and Metrics.

The Project Details Page is where you do everything related to a single project. It opens when you click any project - from the sidebar, Projects page, Dashboard, command palette, or a task that's linked to a project. The page is organised into a header (banner image, name, status, health, quick stats, and action buttons) and a set of tabs that each cover one area of project management.

Up to 9 tabs are available, depending on your license and project settings. Every tab has a numbered keyboard shortcut for one-key navigation - press 1 for Overview, 2 for Tasks, and so on.

Tabs depend on setup and license

Core project tabs are available for every project. CRM appears only when CRM is enabled, while Fields and Metrics require Pro.

How to open a project

See Projects Overview for every way to reach a project. Common paths include:

  • Sidebar - click the project name in the Projects section
  • Projects page - click Projects in the sidebar, then select a project
  • Dashboard - click a project in the Project Overview widget
  • Command palette - press +K (or Ctrl+K) and search for the project name
  • From a task - click the project name on any task's detail page

The project header

The top of the page is the project header, containing the banner image, project info (name, description, status, health, dates), a grid of 12 quick stats with click-through navigation, and action buttons for the most common operations (create task, add goal, add milestone, edit, delete, hide header).

See Project Header for the full walkthrough including the banner image workflow (Unsplash search, upload, per-Space image library), every quick stat, and all action buttons with their keyboard shortcuts.

Use the header for common actions

Create tasks, add goals or milestones, edit the project, and check health without leaving the project.

The 9 tabs

The Project Details Page has up to 9 tabs. Each tab has its own dedicated article - see the links below. Tabs appear in this display order:

Things worth knowing

Tabs adapt to your license and project settings

Not every tab is always visible:

  • Metrics tab appears only if your license includes Project Metrics (Pro)
  • Fields tab appears only if your license includes Custom Fields (Pro)
  • CRM tab appears only if CRM is enabled on the project (choose shared, isolated, or none - see Project Team & CRM)

If you don't see a tab you expect, check your license or the project's CRM setting.

Pro tabs need Pro

Fields and Metrics are part of the Pro tier. Manage your license from License Settings.

The header can be hidden for focus

Press H to toggle the header off. The tabs stay at the top, giving you more vertical space to work with the tab's content. Press H again to bring the header back.

Most fields auto-save

Almost every edit on the Project Details Page saves automatically - status changes, date changes, field values in the Fields tab, and note edits all auto-save. The only field that requires an explicit save is the project name (edit inline and confirm).

Stats in the header update in real time

Task counts, completion rates, overdue counts, milestone counts, and goal counts in the header update live as you add, edit, and complete items. Click most stats to jump to the relevant tab.

The Edit modal is the same as the Create modal

Pressing E opens the same modal used to create the project (Quick Create). In edit mode it pre-fills every field with the project's current values and shows an Archive button alongside Save. See Creating Projects.

Dates affect health calculations

The start date and deadline you set on the project drive the expected progress calculation (based on elapsed time versus total duration). Expected progress is then compared against actual progress to compute project health. If you don't set dates, health falls back to simple progress-based calculation. See Project Health & Progress.

Common questions

"How do I close the project and go back to the projects list?"

Click Projects in the sidebar, or use the browser-style back navigation if you came from another page.

"I can't see the Metrics tab."

Metrics is a Pro feature. Check your license - see License Settings.

"I can't see the CRM tab."

The CRM tab only appears when CRM is enabled on the project. Press E to open the edit modal and toggle Enable CRM on. See Project Team & CRM.

"I can't see the Fields tab."

Custom Fields is a Pro feature. Check your license.

"The keyboard shortcuts aren't working."

Shortcuts are suppressed while you're typing in a text field (so you don't trigger them by accident). Click outside any input first, then try the shortcut. Shortcuts are also scoped to the Project Details Page - they don't work on other pages.

"Can I pop the project into a separate window?"

Not currently - project detail pages open in the main window. Only tasks support pop-out windows.

"How do I delete a project?"

Use the Delete button in the header. PrimeTask shows a confirmation modal listing what will be deleted. See Archive for the difference between archive and delete.
