Companies

Browse, filter, edit, and manage every organisation in your CRM - with grid and list views, bulk operations, import/export, custom company statuses, and full Shared and Isolated CRM support.

The Companies page is the main operations hub for every organisation in your CRM. From here you can browse all your companies, filter them by status, size, or linked project, switch between a visual card view and a compact list view, select companies for bulk operations, and import or export in common formats. It's where customer accounts, prospect lists, partner networks, and supplier records all live.

Each company in the list is clickable - click one to open its Company Details page, where you can see and edit everything about that organisation.

PrimeCRM is a Pro feature

The Companies page and everything on it requires a Pro license with CRM enabled in your current Space. See CRM Settings and License Settings.

Things worth knowing

Two view modes - card view and list view

The Companies page offers two ways to browse:

  • Card view - each company is a visual card showing its logo, name, industry, contact info, website, linked contacts, linked projects, and status. Best for scanning your company portfolio visually.
  • List view - a compact row-based layout showing name, industry, email, phone, website, linked contacts, linked projects, and status in a scannable format. Best when you're working through a long list.

Your preferred view is remembered across sessions.

Filtering companies

The filter controls let you narrow the list:

  • Search - type a company name or other text. Results update as you type.
  • Status - filter by Prospect, Customer, Partner, Inactive, or any custom statuses you've added (see below).
  • Size - filter by Startup, Small, Medium, or Enterprise.
  • Project - filter by which project the company is linked to (Shared CRM mode only). Includes an Unassigned option for companies not linked to any project.

Filters combine - selecting a status and a size shows only companies that match both. See CRM Tags, Filters & Views for broader CRM filtering and search.

The status filter and inline status picker flag Pipeline Board statuses

any company status that's wired to a Pipeline Board shows a small indicator next to its name in the filter list and in the inline status picker on every company. Hover the indicator to see which board and list it's mapped to. Useful when you have several custom statuses and want to know which ones move cards on a kanban.

Custom company statuses

PrimeTask ships with four built-in company statuses: Prospect, Customer, Partner, and Inactive. If those don't fit your workflow, you can add custom statuses that are unique to each Space. Custom statuses appear alongside the defaults in the status filter, on every company's status indicator, and in the company editing form.

To add, edit, or delete custom company statuses, open Settings → PrimeCRM Settings → Per-Space Settings → Company Statuses. See CRM Settings.

Adding a company

Click Add Company in the toolbar to open the company creation form. You can set:

  • Logo - upload a company logo
  • Basic info - company name (required), industry, size, and status (including any custom statuses you've defined)
  • Linked contacts - optionally link existing CRM contacts to the company in one step
  • Contact info - email, phone, website
  • Address - street, city, state/province, country, postal code
  • Notes - free-form notes about the company

After saving, PrimeTask confirms the creation and offers to take you straight to the new company's Company Details page.

Editing companies

Two ways to edit from this page:

  • Click through to the detail page - click any company to open its Company Details page, where every field is editable.
  • Edit mode - click Edit in the toolbar to switch to edit mode. While active, clicking a company opens the editing form directly instead of navigating. Click Exit Edit Mode when you're done.

Selection mode and bulk operations

Click Select in the toolbar to enter selection mode. From here you can:

  • Select individual companies by clicking them, or use Select All to select everything on the current page
  • Link selected companies to a project (Shared CRM only)
  • Unlink selected companies from a project (Shared CRM only)
  • Delete selected companies

Deleting a company has cascading effects

Deleting a company also affects every contact that was linked exclusively to it (they lose their company link), every CRM task tied to it (they lose the company link), and every activity logged against it. Use bulk delete with care, and make a backup first if you're unsure. See Data Management.

Bulk delete in Isolated CRM behaves differently

When you bulk-delete companies from a project's Isolated CRM, PrimeTask distinguishes between companies created inside that project (permanently deleted) and companies linked from Shared CRM (only unlinked from the project, not destroyed). This protects shared data from accidental deletion. See Shared vs Isolated CRM.

Link/Unlink is disabled in Isolated CRM

When viewing a project's Isolated CRM, the Link and Unlink bulk actions are disabled because isolated companies are scoped to that project and can't be cross-linked. See Shared vs Isolated CRM.

Right-click context menu

Right-clicking any company opens a context menu with quick actions:

  • Open - navigate to the company's detail page
  • Copy Link - copy a primetask:// deep link to this company, usable in Apple Shortcuts, Alfred, Raycast, Obsidian, or any tool that supports custom URLs. See External Integrations Settings.
  • Edit - open the editing form for this company
  • Delete - remove this company (with confirmation)

Import and export

The toolbar has Import and Export buttons:

  • Import accepts CSV and JSON files. After picking a file, PrimeTask shows a preview and runs duplicate detection - for any company that matches an existing one, you choose whether to skip, update, or merge.
  • Export offers CSV and JSON formats. All companies in the current view (respecting your filters) are included.

Companies export to CSV and JSON only

Unlike contacts (which also support vCard), companies export in two formats. There's no widely-used vCard equivalent for organisations.

For the full import/export workflow including format details, see CRM Import & Export.

The View Mode Selector - Shared vs Isolated CRM

The same View Mode Selector from the CRM Dashboard appears here. Switch between Shared CRM (every company in the Space) and a specific project's Isolated CRM (only that project's companies). The entire page re-scopes to whichever mode you pick.

When viewing a project's Isolated CRM, each company shows a source indicator so you can tell whether it was created inside that project or linked from the shared CRM pool. See Shared vs Isolated CRM.

Common questions

"How do I find a specific company quickly?"

Use the Search filter at the top - it matches against company name and other text fields. If you know which project the company is linked to, the Project filter narrows the list further. You can also press +K and search from the command palette.

"Can I sort the company list by name or industry?"

The Companies page is ordered by recency (most recently updated first). There is no column sort. If you need analytical views or custom groupings, see CRM & Reports.

"I want to add a custom status like 'Lead' or 'Churned'."

Open Settings → PrimeCRM Settings → Per-Space Settings → Company Statuses and add the new status. It appears immediately in the status filter and on every company's status field. See CRM Settings.

"I deleted a company and now some contacts lost their company link."

That's expected. Deleting a company removes the link from every contact that was attached to it. The contacts themselves are not deleted - they just no longer have a company association. You can re-link them to a different company from each contact's Contact Details page.

"I imported a CSV but some companies were skipped."

The import process runs duplicate detection. If a company in the file matches an existing one (by name), you're asked how to handle it - skip, update, or merge. Any companies marked as "skip" show up in the result as skipped. Re-run the import with a different handling choice if you want them.

"Can I link a company to multiple projects?"

Yes, in Shared CRM mode. Select the company (or multiple companies) and use the Link action, then pick the target project. A company can be linked to as many projects as you want. In Isolated CRM mode, companies are scoped to a single project by design. See CRM & Projects.

"Can I copy a link to a specific company for use in another app?"

Yes. Right-click the company and choose Copy Link. PrimeTask copies a primetask:// deep link to your clipboard. See External Integrations Settings for setup.
