Focus Stats Widget

This week's focus time, session count, completion rate, and current daily streak - with a click-through to the full Focus Stats modal for time range filters and per-task breakdown.

The Focus Stats widget shows your weekly focus performance at a glance. Four headline numbers - total focus time, session count, completion rate, and current streak - give you immediate feedback on how much deep work you've put in. Click the widget to open the Focus Stats modal for time range filters (Today / This Week / This Month / All Time), per-task time breakdown, and CSV export.

Focus Stats are session-based

The widget counts Focus Mode sessions, not general time spent in PrimeTask.

This widget is part of the customisable Dashboard layout. To show, hide, or move it, see Dashboard Layout.

Use the widget for the summary and the Focus Stats modal when you need task-level focus history.

Focus Time

Total focus duration across all sessions this week, formatted as HH:MM (e.g., "4h 32m") or just minutes for shorter totals ("45m"). Break time is excluded - only actual focused work counts.

Sessions

Count of focus sessions started this week (including completed and abandoned). One session corresponds to one click of "Start Focus Session" on a task.

Completion Rate

The percentage of sessions you completed all the way through:

completion rate = completed sessions / total sessions × 100

A high rate means you finish what you start; a low rate suggests you're getting interrupted or starting sessions you can't finish.

Abandoned sessions lower completion rate

Start Focus Mode when you are ready to work through the session.

Streak

Consecutive days with at least one completed session. The streak counts back from today (or yesterday if you haven't started a session today). Skip a day and the streak resets.

Streak is great for habit-building - even a 5-minute session keeps the streak alive.

The Focus Stats modal

Clicking the widget opens the Focus Stats modal for a deeper view:

  • Time range filter - Today / This Week / This Month / All Time
  • Per-task breakdown - every task you've focused on, ranked by total focus time
  • Recent activity - chronological list of recent focus sessions
  • CSV export - download every focus session for the selected range
  • Stats grid - Focus Time, Timer, Focus, Breaks (separately for visibility)

This is the same Focus Stats modal you can open from a project's Time Statistics view - see Project Metrics and Project Time Tracking for the project-side equivalents.

How focus is tracked

PrimeTask records every focus session with:

  • Task it was on - focus is always task-scoped
  • Start and end timestamps
  • Actual focus duration - excluding any break time
  • Break duration - total time spent on breaks during the session
  • Status - completed (you finished) or abandoned (you exited early)

The widget aggregates across all sessions in the active Space. For the underlying focus system (how to start sessions, take breaks, configure sounds, pop-out windows), see Task Focus Mode.

Focus stats follow the active Space

Switch Spaces to review a different focus history.

Things worth knowing

"This week" starts on Monday

The week boundary is Monday at midnight. Focus sessions completed before Monday this week aren't counted in the "This Week" stats. This is consistent with the Time Statistics modal and other weekly views in PrimeTask.

Streak counts completed sessions only

Abandoned sessions don't keep the streak alive. To preserve a streak, complete at least one session per day - even a 5-minute one works.

The widget aggregates across all tasks and projects

Focus stats sum across every task in your Space (regular tasks, subtasks, CRM tasks). Switch Spaces and the stats recalculate.

Updates are real-time

Complete a focus session and the widget's stats update immediately on next render. The streak counter increments as soon as a same-day session is completed.

The dashboard widget is a summary; the modal is the detail

The widget is intentionally small - four numbers. To dig into per-task breakdowns, switch time ranges, or export data, click through to the modal.

The streak number can show "0" without breaking your habit

If you haven't completed a session today and didn't yesterday either, the streak shows 0. Complete a session today and it jumps to 1; if you completed yesterday too, it becomes 2 (today + yesterday).

Common questions

"Why is my Focus Time lower than total time worked?"

Focus Time counts only focus sessions - not the basic task timer. If you used the timer for some work and Focus Mode for others, the total time spent is the sum of both. Focus Time is just the Pomodoro-style portion. See Task Time Tracking.

"Does break time count toward Focus Time?"

No. Break time is tracked separately. A 25-minute focus session with a 5-minute break recorded as a 30-minute total elapsed period contributes 25 minutes to Focus Time and 5 minutes to Breaks (visible in the modal).

"Why is my streak 0 even though I focused yesterday?"

The streak counts completed sessions. If yesterday's session was abandoned (you exited Focus Mode without completing), it doesn't count. To preserve the streak, complete the session.

"How do I see focus stats per task or per project?"

Open the modal - it shows per-task breakdown sorted by total focus time. For project-scoped focus time, use the project's Time Statistics modal - see Project Time Tracking.

"Can I see focus stats from a different Space?"

The widget shows the active Space only. Switch Spaces to see the other Space's stats.

"Where do I start a focus session from?"

Multiple places - see Task Focus Mode for all entry points. The Today's Focus widget on the dashboard is one of the fastest paths.

"How do I export my focus session history?"

Open the modal and click the CSV export action. The export covers the time range currently selected (Today / Week / Month / All Time).

"How do I hide this widget?"

Open the Layout Editor from the Dashboard Header and toggle Focus Stats off. See Dashboard Layout.
