PrimeFlow FlowMode

Use FlowMode to create guided PrimeFlow Journeys that move through selected canvas nodes in a saved sequence.

FlowMode turns a PrimeFlow canvas into a guided Journey. Instead of manually panning around a large canvas, you choose the nodes that matter, place them in order, and then move through them step by step.

Use FlowMode for client walkthroughs, project reviews, process explanations, handoff meetings, research tours, product planning, CRM relationship reviews, or any canvas that needs a clear story.

FlowMode requires Pro

The PrimeFlow feature matrix lists FlowMode as part of the Pro tier. See License Settings to review your current license or upgrade.

How to open FlowMode

1

Step 1

Open PrimeFlow.

2

Step 2

Open the canvas you want to present or review.

3

Step 3

Choose FlowMode on the canvas.

The FlowMode button shows the number of Journeys saved on the current canvas.

FlowMode can also be opened from PrimeFlow header controls where available.

For the main canvas controls, see PrimeFlow Header and Controls.

Create a Journey

1

Step 1

Open FlowMode.

2

Step 2

Choose Create New Journey.

3

Step 3

Enter a Journey name.

4

Step 4

Choose Create.

PrimeFlow creates the Journey and opens it for editing.

Journeys belong to the current canvas

A Journey is saved with the canvas where you create it.

Add nodes to a Journey

FlowMode gives you several ways to add nodes.

Add from Available Nodes

When editing a Journey, use Available Nodes to add nodes that are not yet in the sequence.

You can search nodes by name and filter by type using All types.

Use Quick Add

Use Quick Add: Click nodes on canvas when you want to build the Journey directly from the canvas.

1

Step 1

Open a Journey for editing.

2

Step 2

Choose Quick Add: Click nodes on canvas.

3

Step 3

Click nodes on the canvas in the order you want them added.

4

Step 4

Choose Click nodes to add (click here to stop) when you are finished.

Add from a node right-click menu

When a Journey is open for editing, a regular node right-click menu can show:

  • Add to Journey
  • Remove from Journey

Use this when you are already working on a specific node and want to update the active Journey.

For right-click behavior, see PrimeFlow Right-Click Menus.

A node is added only once per Journey

If a node is already in the Journey, FlowMode offers removal instead of adding a duplicate.

Review the Journey sequence

The In Sequence section shows the nodes already included in the Journey.

Each node shows:

  • Its sequence number
  • Its node name
  • Its node type

Drag sequence items to reorder them. Use the remove action on a sequence item to take that node out of the Journey.

Use Clear all when you want to empty the sequence and rebuild it.

Clear all removes the Journey sequence

It does not delete the nodes from the canvas, but it does remove them from that Journey.

Journey settings

Open Journey settings while editing a Journey to adjust how it behaves.

Path Color

Use Path Color to choose the Journey path color. This helps distinguish one Journey from another when a canvas has multiple saved Journeys.

Available path colors include:

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Cyan
  • Blue
  • Purple
  • Pink

Auto-play Delay

Use Auto-play Delay to choose how long FlowMode waits before moving to the next node during playback.

Available delays are:

  • 1 second
  • 2 seconds
  • 3 seconds
  • 5 seconds
  • 10 seconds

Show path

Turn Show path on when you want FlowMode to draw the Journey route across the canvas.

Turn it off when you want the Journey navigation without the route line.

Loop

Turn Loop on when the Journey should continue from the last node back to the first node.

Turn it off when playback should stop at the end.

Zoom to fit

Turn Zoom to fit on when FlowMode should center and zoom to each node during navigation.

Turn it off when you want to keep the current zoom level while moving through the sequence.

Start a Journey

You can start a Journey from:

  • The Journey list
  • The Journey editor

Choose Start Journey when the Journey has at least one node.

FlowMode starts at the first node in the sequence and opens the navigation controls.

Navigate a Journey

When a Journey is active, FlowMode shows navigation controls for:

  • First
  • Previous
  • Next
  • Last
  • Play/Pause
  • Playback Speed
  • Exit FlowMode

The progress indicator shows where you are in the Journey, such as 3 / 12.

Playback speed choices are:

  • 0.5x
  • 1x
  • 1.5x
  • 2x

Keyboard shortcuts

When FlowMode is active, you can use:

KeyAction
Right ArrowNext node
Left ArrowPrevious node
SpacePlay/Pause
EscapeExit FlowMode
HomeFirst node
EndLast node

Keyboard shortcuts do not take over while you are typing in a text field.

FlowMode paths

When Show path is enabled, FlowMode can draw a path through the Journey sequence.

The active Journey path uses the Journey's selected path color. When you move through the Journey, FlowMode highlights the current part of the route.

Use path visibility for review

Show the path when the sequence itself matters. Hide it when you want attention on one node at a time.

FlowMode and full screen mode

FlowMode and full screen mode solve different problems.

Use FlowMode when you want a guided sequence through selected nodes.

Use full screen mode when you want more room to work with or review the canvas.

You can use FlowMode during a larger canvas review, but it is still a Journey tool, not just a larger viewing mode.

For full screen behavior, see PrimeFlow Full Screen Mode.

FlowMode and node types

FlowMode can include the nodes that exist on the canvas.

This can include:

  • Tasks and checklist nodes
  • Projects, goals, milestones, and project notes
  • Sticky notes, text, emoji, and documentation nodes
  • Mind map nodes
  • Images, links, YouTube, X/Twitter, audio, and video nodes
  • CRM nodes on Pro
  • File, Folder, and PDF nodes on Pro
  • Portal, Cross-Space, External App, and Mermaid nodes on Pro

For node family details, see Adding Nodes in PrimeFlow.

FlowMode and connections

FlowMode does not replace regular PrimeFlow connections.

Use connections to explain relationships between nodes. Use FlowMode to decide the order in which someone should review those nodes.

For connection behavior, see PrimeFlow Connections and Edges.

FlowMode and export

PrimeFlow image export focuses on the canvas content.

FlowMode controls, the FlowMode button, and the Journey path overlay are excluded from exported images. Export the canvas when you need a static snapshot. Use FlowMode when you need a guided live walkthrough.

For export details, see PrimeFlow Export.

Standard and Pro behavior

FlowMode requires Pro.

Standard includes the core PrimeFlow canvas, node library, templates, Color Themes, groups, connections, export, Auto Layout, and Standard node types. FlowMode Journeys are part of Pro.

For the full tier map, see PrimeFlow Standard vs Pro. To review your license or upgrade, see License Settings.

Things worth knowing

A Journey does not change node data

Adding a task, project, CRM node, note, file, or media node to a Journey changes the review sequence. It does not change the underlying item.

A canvas can have multiple Journeys

Use separate Journeys for different audiences, such as Client Review, Internal Handoff, Technical Walkthrough, or Launch Plan.

Deleted nodes are removed from Journeys

If a node is removed from the canvas, FlowMode removes that missing node from saved Journey sequences.

Active navigation resets when switching canvases

When you move to another canvas, FlowMode stops the active Journey so the next canvas starts cleanly.

Empty Journeys cannot be started

A Journey needs at least one node before Start Journey can run.

"Does FlowMode export as part of an image?"
